Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 20
I just returned from a 12 day road trip... an amazing experience! First, we headed up to Rochester, NY for events with the VVA Chapter 20 visiting the VOC (Veterans Outreach Center), the Richard's House for Homeless Veterans, and a look at the VETS Court system to see how it works. Then onto Niagara Falls for the kiddos! We took the girls to New York City for the first time and did a little sight seeing for a few days then onto Washington, DC for meetings at the Pentagon with the Chairman! I took the girls by the Vietnam Veterans Wall, Korean Memorial and the WWII Memorial...we also had a chance to go to Fords Theater to see a play about Lincoln's Assassination. After DC it was on to Harper's Ferry to see where sparks flew as the Civil War was about to get under way...my favorite General...Stonewall Jackson...was there at the start....what an amazing town and National Park...the girls got a National Parks Passport to take and get stamped at all the US National Parks...so cool....we spent the entire day and wish we had more time because it was a breath taking experience...I highly recommend it to everyone! After that, onto Gettysburg, PA to see the Battlefield that pretty much decided the war...even though the war waged on for almost two more years...it was sooo impressive and very moving...the girls got to see "Devil's Den" and saw the KY Monument to Lincoln where he did the Gettysburg Address.....I thought it was interesting that two KY boys were at the head of the entire Civil War...Lincoln and Jefferson Davis. What a trip and educational experience for all!
